Dr. Matthew Karavos
Dr. Matthew Karavos has been practicing dentistry for over 35 years and has worked throughout Ontario and Alberta. Dr. Karavos strives to provide the upmost care in all of his clinics and ensures that his teams are well supported. He has a strong interest in cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry and technology. Dr. Karavos practices dentistry part time in order to ensure that he has enough time dedicated to the smooth running of his business, mentoring of junior dentists in addition to acquisitions of new potential clinics.
Dr. Karavos began his career after graduating from the University of Western Ontario in 1982. Dr. Karavos excelled in his profession very quickly and became an owner within the first six months of his career. Within his first two years he owned and assisted in the management of 6 Tridont Dental practices. Since then Dr. Karavos has been involved with over 100 transactions in the dental space.
While still dedicated to the profession, Dr. Karavos’ goal is to have a dental business with multiple locations that continue to grow and improve their processes. It is important to Dr. Karavos to be able to provide an environment where newly trained professionals and practicum students can enter the dental field and have a positive and nurturing environment.
Kelly began her dental career in 2000. Kelly accepted a position as Assistant Office Manager at Crescent Heights Dental Clinic and she had the great fortune of being part of that team when Dr. Karavos purchased the clinic in 2010. Kelly’s role as the Financial Manager with the Karavos Dental Group has her focused on patient account accuracy, troubleshooting difficult accounts, financial policies, overseeing accounts payables and supervising the accounts receivables at all offices including bad debt and reconciling credit balances. Daily and monthly balancing are ensured and she plays a large role in the purchase and sale of practices where attention to detail and accuracy are paramount to a smooth transition. Kelly’s pride in what she does and her commitment to excellence have earned her a key position with the Karavos Dental Group and she is eager and excited about what the future looks like for the Karavos Dental Group.
Natalie Shaw graduated from Western University with an honors bachelor of health sciences in 2007. She then proceeded to obtain a diploma in dental hygiene in 2010 and a certificate in restorative dental hygiene in 2012, both from George Brown College in Toronto, Ontario. Natalie has been working in dentistry with Karavos Group since 2003, progressing through the organization in a variety of roles including dental assistant, administrator, hygienist, restorative dental hygienist and management/operations. In a management role Natalie brings an eye for efficiency, and has successfully lowered the spend on purchasing relative to billings and optimized scheduling to eliminate staff redundancies. Natalie demonstrates the ability to balance top tier clinical delivery with business acumen and patient care, and focuses on enabling hygienists to deliver a high standard of care while achieving business financial objectives. Clinically she continues to demonstrate a commitment to professional development including taking courses on digital dentistry, Cerec and 3D imaging.
Office Coordination Manager
Patti earned a diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Management from The Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in 1996 and graduated from the University of Lethbridge in 2000 with a Bachelor of Management (Human Resources). In 2001 Patti transitioned into the dental industry and became the office manager of Crescent Heights Dental Clinic. Patti continued her role after the Karavos Group purchased Crescent Heights Dental Clinic in 2010. Now that there are multiple clinics in Alberta under the Karavos Group umbrella, Patti’s role now involves being part of the management team. Patti acts and performs in a management and officer capacity for the clinics. Patti’s core duties are scheduling dentists and assistants for the Calgary offices, payroll administration and employee records management for the Alberta offices, is the benefits plan administrator for Alberta, and works with the management team on the administration side of preparation and execution of the change of ownership for new office purchases.
Regional Manager, Eastern Canada
Gail’s dental career spans from 1972 to present and encompasses a broad range of knowledge of the clinical, operational, and business development aspects of the dental industry. She trained and worked as a dental assistant and hygienist in Trinidad until migrating to Canada in 1982. She has worked in dental reception and office management since 1990. Gail first joined the Karavos Group in 2010 as Office Manager at the Mississauga location, and has worked as Regional Manager of Karavos Group Ontario since 2013. Through her diverse experience in the clinical and administrative sides of dentistry, Gail is able to offer unique insights to her teams. She enjoys coaching and promoting career development and is known for thinking outside the box in her office promotions, staff incentives, and troubleshooting of patient and staff issues alike.
